Photo Essay: Eugene Richards

    This book was a big inspiration for me since for my final I wanted to tell a story with my photos. Though my pictures and story are nowhere near as complex and deep as this book, it gave me some understanding on how to tell a story through photography. The photos in this book required a lot of trust to make them happen and its the trust part that really makes this book stand out. The photos in this book are really dark and grim and to be able to take these photos and make a book out of them is really respectable.

 

    The trust part is what I want to focus on since my friend needed to trust me to take his photos and not make him look bad. He needed to trust me to make a story based on the photos that I took. And I also needed to trust myself to make a story with no prior experience; the only thing that I was going off of was this book. That's why I'm putting so much emphasis on trust because this entire project was me trusting myself and my friend trusting me to make a story.

    Eugene Richards' book has been a big help in making this project. And if I somehow make another story using photos in the future, I will still use this book as a guide.
