Steve McCurry

Steve McCurry, was born on April 23, 1950, in Philadelphia Pennsylvania. He is a world-renowned American photographer, known for capturing the pure horrid that war causes. But I will be talking about his animal photos and how I feel when I see them.

When I saw this photo for the first time it really hit a soft spot for me. It reminded me of my grandma and how much joy she gets when she sees my dog. So seeing this elderly lady clearly loving her cats makes me really happy. Especially since this photo was taken during the Russian invasion it's wonderful to see that this lady is still able to smile with her cats. We don't know how much she has lost since the invasion but the fact that her cats can bring out a smile so pure, it warms my heart 

Over the years Steve McCurry has really been able to capture that moment of pure happiness between animal and human. To show that animals can bring so much joy to everyone and the people that have lost it all. Being able to capture those moments really shows just how great of a photographer Steve McCurry truly is.

This photo shows the same this as the last one I showed. That pure happiness this elderly man got when he petted his cat. This man could live alone and all he has is his cat, but the fact that he still smiles when he pets his cat. Shows just how much he loves his cat and his cat clearly appreciates the pets, just shows the bond these two have for each other.

                    Photo Essay: Eugene Richards      This book was a big inspiration for me since for my final I wanted to tell a story with my photos. Though my pictures and story are nowhere near as complex and deep as this book, it gave me some understanding on how to tell a story through photography.            Fred Ritchin's, "After Photography"       While reading this article the section "Photography the Future so a Version of it Does Not Happen" really stuck out to me. I believe it stuck out to me because it said you can use digital photography to show a bad future that can happen if we continue to do the things we normally do. It talked about a photo of an iceberg and using Photoshop to show how the iceberg will completely melt and raise sea levels if we continue with this level of global warming. I believe that a simple photo being altered like that could change a few people's decisions, which is what the world needs.     Also in that same part of the article, it said that the police used digital photos to help find children that have been lost.
