Saul Leiter

Saul Leiter was an very famous American photographer and painter, born in Pittsburgh on December 3rd, 1923, and passed away on November 26, 2013. Leiter was one of the first individuals to start using color photography in the 1940's. In 2006 he released his monograph, Early Color, which really changed the way people saw color photography and allowed the photography industry to have both black and white photos and colored photos to be equally respected and appreciated.

I love this photo, it is the main reason why I'm doing this blog about him. This photo being so simple yet so vibrant really sticks out to me. I've seen this photo many times in the pass and I still enjoy admiring it every time I see it. I still don't know why exactly I like this photo and I'm completely fine not knowing because I feel like not knowing is most likely a reason why I like it so much

I really like this photo a lot, I am really biased towards snow photos. When looking at this photo the people in it seem to only care about trying to get to where ever they need to go. They need to go, they don't seem to appreciate the snow. Yet if it was me in the photo I would be smiling and enjoying the snow as much as I could since I grew up with almost no snow. I really enjoy the moments when snow is just falling on me because I know the kid version of me would be jumping for joy and constantly smiling, that's why I smile when I see snow and that's why I appreciate every moment I'm in the snow. That's probably why the photo stuck out to me since I would have the complete opposite reaction when walking through the snow.

I enjoy Saul Leiter and when I see his work I tend to appreciate it without knowing its him.
